4p off Diesel 2p off Petrol - Morrisons

4p off Diesel 2p off Petrol - Morrisons

its good if you live near a morrisons
Mine is some 7 to 8 miles away, so the benifit from cheaper fuel will be gone the time i've drove there and back!

But as said - lets hope the others follow suit, as i fill up at work regulary (while im there might as well) So could be more pennies for me!

This is good but as Ziggy says its no good for me because I dont live anywhere near any Morrisons!

Hopefully the others will follow suit, when I do go to Morrisons it does tend to be the cheapest petrol

i often use this website

Sign up - wack your postcode in - it tells you local fuel stations that are cheapest nearest

Like me i'd still be better filling up at work as its only .2p more expensive and im already there!

Ziggy

I tend to find planning your routes to pass the cheaper fuel stations helps :)

Sainsburys where I live have cut price on both fuels by 4p it's at £1.29 for unleaded and £1.38 for diesel and if you spend £50 I store you get a voucher that gets another 5p off per litre

I go where ever has the short wait. Tesco is 2p cheaper than Shell, but Shell is quicker, I would only save 34p each time too.

And got a tank full of inferior fuel :/

@MEP... I've seen this and similar comments from you a few times. Is this just your opinion, or can you actually back this up with some facts / research ?

Oh... I'm not having a go, I'm actually interested in this... I tend to use supermarket fuels as my own research concluded that standard 95RON fuels from BP/Esso/Shell/Tesco/Morrisons/ASDA all come from exactly the same fuel bunker at Grangemouth (or, your local refinery).

It's only when you get to the 'premium' fuels, 98RON etc, that there are differences due to differing levels of additives and detergents - which have been shown to have zero/negligible effect on non-performance engines - which my 1.4 8v, certainly is not.

I'm lucky enough to have an ASDA, Tesco, Morrisons, and Sainsburys forecourt within a short distance along my route to work - so I will generally always fill up at the cheapest, although it has to be pointed out that when Morrisons is cheapest, I use the Shell across the road from it who price match them.

I haven't noticed any difference in my average MPG when filling up with Supermarket vs big brand fuel, and I always run it almost empty and then tank up.

Anyway, if you have evidence I'm filling my car up with crap and potentially wrecking it, could you post it for all to see ?

Thanks,
Chris.

The benefits are only seen in the long term from my own experience ..

Here's "simplymotorings" findings.

QUOTE from; http://www.simplemotoring.co.uk/supermarket-vs-branded-fuels

"The base fuel is the same for all companies – in fact, it usually comes from the same tanks at the local fuel refinery/distribution centre. What varies is the additives package that goes into the fuel. These additives packages are secret recipes of extra ingredients that help keep the engine clean and improve lubrication inside the engine cylinders. "

If all companies get it from the same tanks at the refinery, when does the additives package get added? Does the tanker driver climb up on top of the tanker and chuck a handfull of this secret recipe stuff into each of the tanker's compartments?

Personal experience and knowing what I've been told when working in the fuel retail industry about different adatives being added. Nothing I can back up with links unfortunatly.

All may start at the same place, but its what happens inbetween there and it going into your tank that makes a difference.

Each to their own on this, but I'm not the only one to know about the quality differences of different fuel brands based upon what they do, or do not, add to their fuels.
