Hello everyone!

We've just bought a 2016 Fiat 500 1.2 Popstar. We noticed that the spare key wasn't present, but the dealer (Arnold Clark) said not to worry, as they have it at their original dealer up north and will post it down.

The post has arrived and I feel like I've been taken back to the 80's with a plain old spare key!

Is this right? Do 2016 Fiat's only get one remote key and one plain key?

Any info would be of great help! :)

James

Yep that's correct most Fiat's only have one remote key and one Manual one

Ours has two remote flip keys, both genuine fiat keys, we didn't buy it from new, so musthave been an option.

The car came with one remote and one non-remote key as standard. You can always buy an additional genuine Fiat remote from a franchised dealer at any time.

Expect to pay somewhere in the region of £250-£350.

Definitely correct as I have a 2016 Fiat 500 and my spare key looks like that :)

I have a remote key which I use then the plain spare key.

If you were to get the genuine Fiat alarm fitted it used to come with a spare remote key and work via the key itself rather than an additional remote.

So if you were thinking of spending decent money to get a key it might be worth enquiring about getting the alarm fitted for perhaps not much more money.

We have the same setup and the big advantage is that I can have thie small key together with my 30 yr old suzuki key + house key on the keyring and still fit them into my pocket. Impossible to do that with the bulky remotes. Those are made for women who have a handbag anyway so my wife keeps that one :D

If that was the case then our "cheap" key was missing and someone spent a lot to replace it.

Hi

use an auto locksmith and remote keys will be far cheaper , original remote flip keys can be around £150 and aftermarket brands far cheaper but not as reliable.
search for an auto locksmith in your area
