I am looking at getting a spacesaver wheel and tyre for our 2015 Panda Cross
the tyre will be 125x80x15 so as to fit in the boot but the offset of the wheel is ET 20
the normal wheels are ET35 offset with 185x65x15 will this offset be ok

I posted something on here a while back that gave all the answers about space savers, the Jack and toolkit in one place. I’ll try and find it (using this Forum’s very good ‘search’ function and put a link here for you :)

Edit: see here

And as mentioned above the offset is relative to the wheel size. Yes, et20 is correct.

No update from @Phil R whether he sorted his proposed spacesaver purchase and “ET20” offset query for his “normal” wheels “ET35 offset with185x65x15”, but I notice on p152 of the February 2016 edition Owner Handbook (attached below, assuming this applies to the 2015 model), that the 185x65x15s are in fact listed as “ET30” (it’s the “175/65 R15 84Ts” that are listed as ET35).

Also, p152 clearly states it’s the same spacesaver tyre spec for both wheel/tyre sizes (i.e. “125/80 R15 95M”) across all Panda Cross combos with no mention of differing ET values (wouldn’t the Handbook state if that was not the case?).

So I’m attaching a pic of my own 2016 4x4 “125/80 R15 95M” spacesaver which (according to the OM) will be the same and hopefully it shows all the various numbers needed to buy the correct spacesaver size (+ET value) - if not I can take another pic!

Couple of queries:
1. You’ll see that the sticker on the left is titled “312 Models” not “319” (not sure what the various numbers listed refer to) but the Mk4 seems generally to be referred to as the 319 - which is the correct designation?
2. The wheel is secured “outside up” - can it be properly secured if “turned over” so as to free up some storage space in the well? (the OH actually has a pic of this with a “tool box” fitted inside the wheel well for some models!)

Cheers
Jim

P.S. there’s a “Road Hero” spacesaver pack offering the whole caboodle of wheel, tyre, tools + wheel bag (for the punctured tyre/wheel), and various other bits+pieces for the 2014-21 Panda Cross models for £199 online
Be aware this is 100PCD! The Panda needs a 98 PCD wheel.

Don't buy this. It won't fit the Panda, whatever the advertising may say.

Wow, thanks for this @jrkitching I’ve deleted the entire “P.S.”
Begs the question why this manufacturer and these traders continue to sell misdescribed spacesavers that don’t fit the cars they’re listed for when they must be having to shell out a lot of money on full refunds!

The current Panda is model 312 - but often, wrongly, called 319. (The VIN numbers all start ZFA312… )

The ET offset is relative to the wheel width, so the narrower spacesaver has a smaller ET value.

Cross models use a different offset as originally (when all Cross models were 4x4), they used a wider tyre (185 section) than all other models. Although now all supplied with 175 summer tyres, the wheels didn’t change.

The 4x4 spacesaver is fitted label side up in the boot because its toolkit won’t fit into it (bigger jack). But non 4x4 models put the spare ‘label side down’ and have a polystyrene insert in them. The 4x4 wheel can’t be secured the other way up as the securing nut does reach down far enough.

Quite possibly they aren't providing refunds.

Most folks will likely just chuck the whole lot in the boot without trying it first, then they'll only realise the bolt holes won't quite line up when they try to use it in anger, perhaps years later.

They'll also find that the locating pins stop the spare from being fitted (the necessary holes aren't in the rim), and they likely won't have anything in the car that can unscrew them.

By then the supplier will either have gone out of business, be trading under a different name, or refuse a refund because the spare's been marked trying to fit it.

Thanks. It’s a puzzle why “319” is in such common use - I’m as guilty as all the others!
So, IIUC, the OP was correct with “ET20” for the space saver. And the spacesaver for both the 4x4 and Cross is exactly the same (as are the 15” road wheels+tyres - confirmed in the handbook), so the spacesaver in my 4x4 (shown in the pic attached to my previous post) is the one he needs to get.

Yes good point. Most will be credit card transactions, but section 75 Consumer Credit Act only gives 4 months (120 days) to discover they’re not fit for purpose and instruct the cc company to cancel the transaction - after that, as you say, you’d have to claim against the retailer
