So, my brother has the 2014 fiat 500, 1.2, manual.
When you lift of the clutch, the revs will go up, and you can start moving the car without touching the gas. This is a great trick!

Tested a 2010 model today, and noticed - it doesn't do this.
Does it not have it? Or is it faulty?

I don't know anything about this, but I am assuming this is just a computer thing (ECU/ECM)?

Thanks

This was a feature on EU "Euro 6" emissions standard onwards (from January 2014). Something to do with getting precisely controlled liftoff in the EU test cycle I presume...all a bit cynical but as you hint, there are some user benefits especially in heavy traffic!

The early software was not well optimised however and in the UK (at least) there was a bit of a consumer backlash (picked up by TV and other media) after people found themselves bunnyhopping around the place. Once you're used to it though I think its fine - you just have to make an effort to move your subliminal "bite point" reflex from moving off from stationary, to moving from walking pace to higher speeds....
