Technical 2001 Auto Gearbox (CVT Type)

Hi,
I hope this is the right place to post this..

I have a 2001 Punto elx 16V 6 speed Automatic speedgear
with a slipping gearbox. (CVT Type)

I've just ordered a second hand box as a repair is going to cost 1000Euro..

The problem is the breakers yard could only tell me the gearbox they
have is for a 2001 Punto.

My question is are all the 2001 auto boxes the same?
And if they are different i.e 5 or 7 speed, would it still work in my car.

Any help would be great,

all the same, 6 or 7 speed is decided by ecu not the box its self.
dont forget to change filter and refill box with correct fluid. tutela cvt ng.

I saw on wiki that there is a 5 speed Semiautomatic (Dualogic type) aswel..
Would that type box work?
Or would that be from a different year?

no that wont work but it came out a long time after 2001. 03 or 04 i think at the earliest
