1981 Austin Allegro 1.3 (so uncool it's cooool)

Introduction

This is Adam the allegro  :yum:. It was the top of the range model back in 1981. It shares the drive with my Grande Punto. Am I gonna get booted off the forum now? Have I overstepped the mark?

I had a car where you switch high beam on via a switch on the floor, was actually very useful(y)

My first mini also had a floor mounted starter solenoid down by the front of the driver seat as well as a floor dip beam switch!

That is lovely, we had a 1979 1750HL in snapdragon yellow with black vinyl roof. Put a VDP interior in it and an Opel Manta cut n shut spoiler on the front! Most unreliable car Ive ever owned but it was sooo much fun. The Allegro was pretty good in resisting the rust, up until around 10 years ago there were still loads in everyday use round here in great condition.

As with anything British, the trend is to knock it but in my opinion BL stuff was far better than the equivalant Ford or Vauxhall, and it rusted far slower than Jap cars of the 70s.
