I was going to replace one exhaust shim as no` three cam tap taps when the engine is running. I thought i would change cams if the spare cams i have are suitable (read more suited to the engine). The Fiat cam boxes i have on my two litre twin-cam engine state 124AC, i assume the cams are the 124 ones, The setup is thus, 4301155 cyl head, 124AC cam boxes and cams (?) how does one tell?, 132AB inlet manifold. The rest of the engine is pretty much stock. i did a compression test and 1,2,4 all came up at 190 psi while 3 came up at 170psi, bearing in mind it is this cyl exhaust cam that is tapping, i run a 10 thou feeler gauge to check clearance and still sloppy. I cannot remember what markings are on each cam but some have green and red paint, i remember that exhaust cam has red paint???. What is the clearances for a two litre twincam engine?. What engines did the 124AC come out with?, would the cams be suitable for the two litre engine?. I have other cams so am looking at a more suitable cam. The cams i have are from a 132CB and a Lancia Thema, the 132 is carbed and the Thema is injected, is there any difference between the injected cams and the carbed ones?, power vs torque etc?. I have searched about cams and there is a lot of good info but not much that pertains to my setup. Any ideas would be most helpful as i am at a loss as to what to do.
