Technical 1108 engine valve clearances setting - GUIDE

theres only 700 and 900ccm engines in czech and polish repair manuals,

i have to change rocker cover sealing, so will set the valves as well,

that topic fingers99 posted is a bit complicated, and i am really missing this service job in guides section

could you write me step-by-step instructions??? do I have to turn over crankshaft by some degrees and check every valve gradually, or just check all valves at once??
(dont remember this very well, last time I was checking valves it was some skoda motor 15 yrs ago :( )

only think I know I'll need 0.45mm shim and some tools

will appreciate your help, thanks very much

You sure: the Italian one looks as though that's all that's in it, look carefully and it's all there, much further on.

No! It takes more time to explain it than to do it: sooner or later I'll do a guide with pictures, but not now.

Like I say, measure the clearance with the cam at the base circle (lobe pointing up): nothing else matters.

No, no, no, no! You won't know what shims you require until you've measured the clearances. You'll need a set of feeler guages, and a micrometer (although you can get away with a vernier or even a digital caliper)

sorry for my stupid questions, but didn't see camshaft yet..

here it is,

so u can't set clearances simply with tools, like the other cars(like skoda:)), but how will you secure those spacer shims?????? its a quite difficult job, let it be for now..

One more thing, please, what is that second tiny hose good for(its going straight to left side of that orange thing inside air filter box, from bottom, see pic)?????

Shimming isn't a difficult job, but it is tricky to explain. You just have to be very methodical. The shims take the place of the the old screw and nut type adjusters -- they're a bit lighter and a bit more rigid.

I'm not sure exactly what the orange thing does! Most of my motors don't have them, so it can't do much. ;)
