General 1.8 16v Dynamic Honest reviews

Each driver is looking for different driving experiences, accordingly to his driving style and priorities (somebody is thinking mainly of consumption, others of the engine sound and revs).
It is my personal opinion that if you are looking for a responsive powerful engine the 1.8 16V outperforms the MJ: I am not talking about the official stats which I cannot entirely "feel" when I am in the car and I know well the MJ is a great engine for a diesel.
I am merely talking about what you feel pushing the accelerator and what the engine tells you when you change from 4th to 3rd gear at high speed, or from 2nd to 1st in a quick deceleration, possibly using your toe and heel rally technique.
Please do not make me laugh, the 16V is totally superior to any diesel if you are looking for an aggressive sporty driving experience.
Otherwise we would see the MJ in the Stilo UK Rally cup or diesel engines in F1.
That's it. :slayer:

apierdomi, my man!!! :D
Like I said, I´m gonna miss the 1.8, but the rising fuel costs and the price difference between the diesel and the 98 octane just didn´t justify not buying a diesel. The Multijet is fast, very fast, but I must say that it doesn´t offer as much "involvement" in the experience as the 1.8, seems a bit dull in comparison. But hey, it´s cutting my fuel costs by half, so who´s complaining :)

Final run. Sure gonna miss it :)

Nope along a flat stretch of road, not even with a downhill gradient! Only performance mod at the time was Franz Ferdinand on the the stereo at full belt! ;)

lol nice 1..
i must admit for a 1.2 on a heavy car like the stilo the performance is really good..and im not takin the p**s ;)

Well, the pic was taken during the final run thursday, as I´ve traded the car in. That´s why there´s no fuel inside ;). The car still had a lot of reserve as I´ve just shifted from fourth into fifth. The top speed it achieves is an indicated 215 km/h with 98 octane, although I even managed to get 220 on a long, flat stretch of highway on 95 octane :). And yes, it really goes that fast, the Accord 2.2 turbodiesel couldn´t touch me :D

Yeah 1.2 is nippy, and can get to a decent top speed. Cars like the 1.6 and above have the advantage of torque in top gear, where i might occasionally need to drop down to 5th gear. Although i found the other day, a hilly stretch of motorway where i'd loose a bit of speed at 70, if i approach the hill at 75 or 80 i can maintain that speed all the way, and not harm economy either! :)

Tough on the environment.............................

tough on the causes to the environment, economy, economy, economy!

The 1.8 unit is a bored out 1.6 unit, same engine just bigger bore, speaking of bores, hello Stiloboy!

Re: Out done?

In responce to KoArAnG, Stilo is one of the lightest cars in its class, well certainly the 1.2 anyway. Only direct competitor which is lighter to the Stilo 1.2 is the Ford Focus 1.4,which is only 22kg lighter.

Its a big car for its engine capacity, but not a heavy car, its quite light really, which explains its reasonable performance, and its good economy.

One thing that puzzles me, i'm assuming the 1.2 is an all alloy engine, i'd assume all the petrol engines in the range would be, so why is the 1.6 115kg heavier?
