Hi guys, I have a 500L with a 199B4.000 1.3 Multijet Diesel engine that has bottom end issues, I've been told it needs an engine replacement and have been quoted £3200 for engine + labour.

Now I'm not one for shortcuts but looking at specific 199B4.000 engines for sale, they are fairly high mileage and/or expensive. I've discovered that a couple of other fiat platforms use this engine and in fact look identical down to the trim on top and turbo location etc!

I have scouted a low mileage decently priced engine from a MK2 Doblo (263A2.000), long shot but does anyone know if these are a straight swap or require a little work to get into my 500L?

Thanks in advance!

This may not be relevant in your search, but I am looking for a gearbox for a 1.3MJ in a 2014 Vauxhall Combo (Doblo in drag) and the clutch cylinder is external on bell housing, but concentric type inside the bellhousing on the 500l.
Also early 1.3MJs are different to later, manifolds dpf etc.

I'm not changing the gearbox so I don't think this information applies but in terms of early or late MJs being different, do you know the years that they range from by any chance?

It was more if the flywheel/clutch side was different/dual mass flywheel etc. rather than the gearbox in your case?
It does seem to fluctuate as to when vehicles were registered , but I am guessing after 2010 for Fiats but Vauxhall versions maybe a bit later.
On the Doblos and Vauxhall Combos it seemed the headlamp sloping along the wing on the later versions as a rough guide.

A quick look up shows around 2009 was when they changed the amount of injections per cycle which I assume is where a lot other things changed alongside the points you mentioned here to keep up with update emission standards. I'm really hoping it's not outlandish to pray it's a straight plug 'n' play situation here as it'll save me £100's. I'll call a specialist on Monday and hope they have some knowledge in this niche area. They really do look identical judging by photos of seen of the Doblo MK2 and what I see in my 500L but it could be different mounting points etc!

I would have thought mounting would be similar, it is more ancillaries, but see what the specialist says.
Often a scrap yard who sells them all the time will know what fits what, if you can find a helpful one.
