Hi all, newbie here! We have recently bought a 2011 1.3 multijet diesel and like it a lot. However it is only doing 45 mpg (measured full to full tank) even on a 200+ mile journey.
I've just started to service it with new oil and filters etc and will treat it to a fuel cleaner. However the engine is making a "chuff chuff" type noise from the engine, indicating something is loose (injector?). Likely this is contributing to the poor fuel consumption? Is this a common problem and any idea what it is and how difficult for a diy repair? Everything looks a bit tight in there for access and looks like quite a lot has to be removed to even check the injectors.
