Welcome to the forum. I trust that you will continue to contribute.

Do you have a problem, or are you just curious?

I also have a 2006 2.8jtd, on which crank sensor is not easy to reach, or even see.

The sensor is located at the rear of the engine, and access is not aided by presence of subframe. Attached photo was taken by viewing over subframe.
