hi guys,
I have read in earlier posts about multipla camper, but can find no pics - been removed - or layout info............ any one out there with an interior pic or layout info? please,
its just me and the mrs and dogs now, we go camping, but an interior bed would be nice for early/late year camping :) we are bth in our 60's..
the post i saw was comparing the 'multipla' to the 'vw'.
any info apreciated.
the 'length' seems to be the major prob, perhaps they fitted swivel front seats?
we think this motor is realy good [06 reg].
regards

The company that made them was (is?) called Wheelhome. I have never seen one, not even a picture of one, but you may find the following description I had saved interesting:

Our exciting new conversion called 'TC 1' is based on the award winning (BBC TV's Top Gear car of the year) Fiat Multipla car, it is a wonderfully ingenious two berth (two single beds) camper that retains a standard forwards facing seating capacity of four with a fifth seat an optional extra - all with proper seat belts, it sits nicely in our range between our Daneste III on Suzuki Carry and Millennium on Ford Galaxy.
Standard specification for the car Fiat Multipla 1.6 Ltr. 16 valve petrol engine, 103 bhp SX, (turbo diesel available as an option). 5 speed manual gearbox. Anti-lock brakes. Power assisted steering. Tinted windows, electric front.
Electrically operated and fully retractable mirrors. Rear wash wipe. Electric height adjustable
drivers seat. Height adjustable steering wheel. Remote central locking with alarm and deadlocks. Drivers and passenger air-bag. Fiat CODE immobiliser. Radio cassette with RDS and 6 speakers.
Conversion.
Elevating roof with gas strut assistance colour matched to the vehicle bodywork, vents/windows and a storage compartment within. Two extremely comfortable rear facing seats for camping with adjustable backrest angle which give an exceptionally roomy lounge area. Rear upholstery in similar style to cab seats for that 'original' car look.
Well planned kitchen unit with excellent storage located across the back of the car (the cook sits upon the covered Porta Potti whilst using the kitchen), this unit along with the rear seats can easily be removed (and refitted) in only a few minutes to allow the TC 1 to be used as a load carrier.
Maintenance free Auxiliary battery (100 amp.) Stainless steel two burner hob, grill, sink and drainer. Fully trimmed and carpeted interior. Two tables. A 23 litre (5 gallon) water tank located under the vehicle, which has an electric pump to deliver fresh water to the sink. Gas compartment for one camping gaz 907 and one 901. Two double fluorescent lights. Fitted lined curtains. Fire extinguisher with gauge. Dedicated Porta Potti 335 storage. Detailed owners instruction manual. The cabinet work is in a high quality wipe clean mottled grey finish.
Note; The kitchen and Porta Potti remain accessible even with the beds made up. Air conditioning (£703), a 1.9 Ltr turbo diesel engine (£1,110) and refrigerator (£298) are available as optional extras.
Fuel consumption
The 1.6 ltr. 16 valve petrol returns 39.2 m.p.g. on the 'extra urban' cycle and the 1.9 JTD turbo diesel returns 51.4 m.p.g. 'TC 1' £21,430 including vat at 17.5% and all 'on the road" charges and 12 months guarantee.

--------

I do remember there being some problem with PC virus warning messages when trying to visit the Wheelhome website.

It's also worth bearing in mind that (from old brochure pictures that I've seen anyway) it's possible to convert the standard Mutlipla interior into a makeshift bed. If all of the headrests are removed, and the rear seats mounted in the correct floor sockets, all of the seats can fully recline to make a continuous bed. I've never tried it myself, so I can't tell you how comfortable it is (or isn't!).

Ha ha!! Just when I thought the Multi can't get any more bonkers.

Speaking of bonkers, I went to this year's Mountain Mayhem 24hr mountain bike race and used my JTD115 as an impromptu camper by just removing the rear sets and shoving a double air bed in the back. Et voila! And at a fraction of the price!!!

I've seen pics on Flickr of someone removing their front head restraints, pushing the front seats all the way forward, then folding down, producing a rather lumpy double bed with no handbrake to rudely interrupt things. Will have to give it a try when I've got plenty of time on my hands!!

On a recent trip to Italy, on the way there I pulled over in Austria for a sleep, the back seats and the front middle seat were out, it was very comfy lying straight down the middle on an air bed, a few days later it was full of motorbikes, great thing the multipla---a camper, a van and an economic whacky styled car all in one.:)

hi all.
I wanted to see one done as ' lack of rear length' is a major prob with these other wise marvalouse vehicles.
most campers have a foot or two beyond the rear wheels which then gives you 6ft behind the front seats.
looked for swivels but they only seem to be made for the vw body......perhaps they will redrill and use spacers to make fit the seat bottom properly.......... not looked at the option of taking the seat off the 'mounting'..........

Can you post a piccy of this? In my round-nose model, the seat's well bolted in and it has heater ducting running along each seat rail.

It would be interesting to see what changes Fiat made to make this possible.

hi all
the front center seat is 'quick release' the same as the back three, pull bar at rear to 'unlock' and tip forward then pull second bar to release the front fix and lift out. :)
will try to get some pics tomorow.
there is a 12v cool box available to fit in place of the seat.

hi all,
my mistake,
the front middle seat is bolted in....................in the handbook it says 12v cool box available for this position........ not a 'quick swap' then eh??
regards
don

Quick release front middle seat would be a great idea, it always takes me about 20mins to remove the middle seat and put back in position the other 2 front seats and a bit of twisting about. Maybe I'll fabricate my own quick release system.
