Styling Help with Colors?

Well, first off, thank you all for your patience! I didn't think this would be so hard. It IS a matter of too many choices.... And I am not a good decision maker.

It is OK that you threw the cabrio back in the mix. It's still in my heart a contender.

That picture is beautiful! The red seats on ours are not nearly as nice - here they are -

http://www.fiatusaofsouthatlanta.com/new/FIAT/2012-FIAT-500C-0aa6e79b0a0a00e001e10d5713acf0f6.htm

One thing I wondered about was having a burgundy roof (bordeaux they call it here) with really red seats.

The other thing I worried about was the problem I have read about where you can't see out of the rear view mirror. I think I would want to drive the cabrio again and see how much that bothers me.

Loveshandbags, I am curious why you picked the white ambience for the cabrio, yet the black for the hardtop.

Here's the pricing of the 2 models:

Pop - auto, leather, heated seats, power moonroof - $19,148 (NOT with any upgraded , paint)
PopC (cabrio) - with cloth heated seats and auto trans - $20,999. Switch the cloth seats for leather seats, and it brings it to $22,298. That's over my budget. The max I can spend due to what I qualified for and what I can put down is $21,500, and even that is more than I want to spend. I really want to keep it under 20K to keep the payments reasonable.

I think I am leaning toward red leather with BNW (Bianco in my land)- and ???? ambience. Most likely black, with power moonroof.

One very interesting thing I learned today, is the charcoal leather in the Pop I saw this weekend was put in the car via an aftermarket company. they sent the car out - it is NOT Fiat. They told me I could have "any" color that I wanted.

I wonder what - if anything - this does to the warranty.

Thanks again for the help. Where do you both live?

The reason why I speced white ambiance in the Cabrio was that when the roof is 'in' it will be dark ! and the white was to brighten it up.

EDIT:

But with the tintop I reckoned that you would spec the moonroof so it would be brighter so it could take the black.
Also I reckon that the cabrio looks better in pearlescent paint and on the inside the pearlescent dash works better than the flat white with the white ambiance.
In relation to the red seats and a red canvas top I reckon it could take it - it is not like you have a red car and red leather. In the Pop 500c the top half of the seat is white. So again having the Funk white I reckoned that it would work better than the BNW if you have the extra ££££.

Here is my car and I'm based in Dublin

Another fan of the Funk White is Heidi. Her pictures are on-line. But this paint will add another $500 to your costs. Heidi has the white ambiance with the red leather and the funk white.

If you are going standard white i.e. BNW I would stick with the black ambiance and the red leather and the moonroof will 'save the day'. This is probably the best choice but at least you explored the cabrio option. :)

EDIT: Funk white with white ambiance and Tan leather

Would you go for this ? Sport model comes with the half leather. Is it female enough in the white ? this one is pearlescent

Wow! Your car is gorgeous. It looks like a Lounge with the grey and white checked seats? Do you also have a sunroof? I wish we had the piping on the seats over here - really classy looking.

Actually all of these cars are beautiful. I would be happy with any of them.

I think I first have to set my budget firm, and made a list of what I can't live without.

Then the biggest decision probably is cabrio or hardtop.

BTW, we visited Dublin a couple of years ago and fell in love with it. The people were amazing, you being a prime example!

It sounds like you have lots of choices to make! I know I'm really bad at this which is why it's taken me so long to order my new Fiat 500! I have to say that I personally love that pale green colour, I'm ever so slightly envious that it's available in the US as it's the colour I would've had at a heartbeat were it still available here. The mocha latte colour is also lovely (I think), but I love the solid pastel colours as they are different from all of the usual car colours around :)
Good luck and enjoy your new car! :)

Thank so much for the compliment but I would have to thank the FF for the education !

I am going to go out on a limb on this one . I reckon the last youtube on the Pearl Sport is probably the best choice.

Sport model. A lot of extras and is probably good value for money over the pop.
Leather. You get this in the price (ok half) and it may be quite close to the charcoal that you liked.
Pearlescent white. For me - this colour is amazing. You have to own it and live with it to realise it. It looks different at different times of the day and does not need polishing to look good like a black. For you at $500 it's a bargain compared to a €900 new price for me.
The Abarthy look is very suble and this one should easily re-sell.
Your package of safety & convenience package $650 to include heat is OK value - the spare wheel is worth having.
You get the red in the center hub caps and the calipers - very subtle !
The moonroof will give you the cabrio that you were looking for.
This prices up around $20,500 so it appears to be on budget.

On the last note - suspension. I very much doubt that the 'Sport' model suspension is any different to the Pop or the Lounge. In Europe the sports suspension was related to the engine choice - in our case the 1.4 engine. Your suspension is the new revised one with more 'travel' so it should be quite comfortable.

Thanks!

What is Abarthy?

Abarthy refers to the look of an Abarth 500. The Abarth 500 that the US are hankering for and wouldn't get until next year is rumoured to be arriving early 2012 but may not appear until mid 2012.

This is a link to one of the members A500 (A denotes Abarth) - he will be happy to see his car here - I will get away with this one on the 500 section. ;)

https://www.fiatforum.com/members-motors/268699-third-time-lucky.html

Your Sport model being different to the Lounge/Pop model and taken some of the style of the A500 hence the phrase Abarthy.

Tony's car above is owned by his wife but I not too sure who drives it :D

Wow! Another great car. Wish the Abarth were here now. Might drive down the cost of the regular 500s.

Can someone please tell me what Xenon (?sp) lights are? Appears they are an option and maybe we don't have them in the US, or are they what is listed here as "Fog Lights"?

Are the regular lights not enough?

Back to the dealer on Saturday to drive a Pop with a sunroof and check out a Lounge. I've ruled out the cabrio for practical reasons and cost, though who knows - I may fall in love all over again when I see it!

I'm iffy on the sunroof, as I only use mine now to pop when the car has sat and is hot to let some air out, and mainly because my A/C is broken. Can do the same thing with windows and save $850. I also didn't like the side rails being closed in with the sunroof, but it may not bother me this time - which is why I want to drive one.

I do like the extra light that a sunroof provides, which is why I am checking out the Lounge - I liked the fixed glass roof. A bit of concern about safety there though with so much glass.

Decided on Bianco (BNW) with red or charcoal leather (I want to see them in person before I decide) and ivory ambience, heated seats, Bose audio, security system, and auto transmission.

Does the dealer charge a premium to order a car rather than buy off the lot?

Remember - the Fiat 500 is a small car with a big personality :D and the glass roof is quite big for the car size. Grimwau's Abarth 500 has the moonroof - it's his 3rd 500 and he specified for a reason :)
I get the impression that you're not too taken with the Abarthy look ? There has been some criticism that it can look a bit angry hence the preference for most of the 500 members on here for more the retro look.
It is easy to over analyse and I would trust your instinct on your choice. Remember that the 500 is not all show - it's the driving experience and hopefully lower running costs.
Try and get a long test drive and spent some time in different ones. Using the configuration is good for pricing but seeing the actual cars (if you can) in the flesh is what does it.
The Xenons are supposedly great but my eyesight is just about still good so I haven't had the need the tick that checkbox yet !

EDIT: Fog lights. These are different to Xenons (Main headlamp upgrade). The fog lights come standard on the Sport model (they are low down). For me in Ireland there are a waste of money - very rarely even have fog - but they look nice.

I saw the Volare Blue on the road for the first time ever last night on my drive home from work, I've been wanting to see it for ages, it is really really cute, when I ordered my car in the BN White, I was shown the Volare but on a Panda as they didn't have a 500 in the show room in that colour. (Volare Blue was my initial choice of colour) I decided I didn't like it as much as the white when I saw it, but then last night when I saw it on a 500 I was back to thinking it looked great! Maybe I should've gone for Volare after all! My BN White will be just as perfect though :)

Volare Blue is a very nice colour, I find it changes depending upon the light between a very pale pastel blue and quite a bright 'highligher' blue in lower light. It's not that common at the moment, so I'm happy I ordered my car in it :)

Yeah that's exactly why I originally preferred it because it's so much more unique! I won't allow myself to regret it now though ha, and will love the white just as much :)

Incidentally the only volare blue fiat500 I've seen around belongs to a neighbour of my parents :) However I spotted one at the dealer last week so went in to have a good look at it - took some pics so I'll post them when I find the wire for my phone to get them off. It looked really good in the dreary just-about-to-rain light of a friday afternoon :)

I've seen quite a few Volare Blue 500s driving around London now. Despite the fact that I'm usually all about the dark colours (my Lounge is black with black ambiance - I like dark & gloomy ;)), I really do love the Volare Blue. It has to have the ivory ambiance for it to look at its best though. I saw a Volare Blue with black ambiance at the Marylebone dealership & it looked all wrong!

Janep1 - where did you get your mats made up from? Is it someone you knew of locally or is there somewhere online that does this?

Mine should look just like this :) I have red cloth with ivory ambience aswell. It looks nice and bright in your pics, the one I saw at the dealership looked a bit more dull. Are the red mats hard to keep clean?

Hi macdebbie. I thought you might interested in the posting from loveivs. Looks like US Fiat are doing a deal on Pearl and the Sport model on the first 100 orders.

I'm a bit of a sucker for 'special editions'. Mine own one is reputed to be the 469 of a 500 special edition. It handy for the speel you can give at re-sale time.

Hi FloJo and lilrachiebaby89, I ordered my car mats at 'carmats4U' online. They were about £50, which I ummed and ahhed about as it was quite pricy, but then I thought I've just spent £14k on a car and I'm thinking £50 is too expensive!!! so I bought them.

The driver's one after a year is a bit grubby, but the footwell is dark so it doesn't show that much. The carpet is quite thick and good quality, so I'm sure if I took them out and gave them a proper clean they'd come up as good as new.

By the way - my seats probably look nice and bright in the photos as I had the roof down on that day and it was very sunny. :)
