I am stuck in a car park (i sleep in the car) with 2 ebay ECU's and windows 10, can connect in boot mode but need to know if I am wasting my time.
I read somewhere with a virgin ecu I need the red key??? is this true?
Also does anyone have flash file for 0261 208 029 - Punto 1.2 16v 2004
I have the eeprom bin but could not pull the flash off it..
Just wanted to check the ebay ECU was ok..
Read about Galleto and cable too.
Need to do on the cheap as don't have money in the bank to pay someone and I need the car to get to a job if one comes up..( engineering related )

Anyone have instructions how to pull the eeprom / flash file off the chip using mini connectors and windows..

I don't think there is a cheap way. Without buying things, hardware.
Here are some random files downloaded from internet (not verified, so be careful), most are not exactly your type, but similar ECUs.

Since you have the original ECU with a hardware problem you can copy the software to another ECU so it becomes a clone of the original and the car will start.
You dont need the red key which is for an older car.

I think i have learnt how to do this on my ECU with a fiatecuscan cable and free software. I am sure many people would like to know how to do this on their own car but was wondering what other members feel about the ordinary person having access to this information via this particular forum...

As I said in that post I did not really know what I was doing. I just copied what others had done.
To be clear I did not virginise the working ECU. I used the working ECU to make a clone of the original ECU

Red Master key was the 1994 / 99 system
Your Mk2 188 model is 2 x blue bodied keys, both equal
I was under the impression that SOME diagnostic software can Code in keys, but maybe not back as far as the 188 variant
