Panda (Classic) Restoring my first Fiat!

Introduction

Hi all, just registered here since I'm suddenly a Fiat owner after a few drinks on the bank holiday Friday and Fleabay being far too accessible on my phone. Always fancied a 4x4 Panda, and this one came up locally for cheap. So much for my one-out-one-in garage rule :D

It's got a fair few dings and has been off the road since 2002 (used as a farm runaround since then it seems, though only ~40k!).

It hasn't got any rear seats, and the bonnet is knackered after someone broke into it with a monkey wrench (probably something to do with the missing spare wheel ). Also missing a wing mirror and other things that fly off when you're ragging round a farm. Fair share of holes too, but I have old Fords so just another day in the office for me :p
Project not dead! I may have bought a Hillman Super Minx that temporarily distracted me. Either way suspension mount is restored and back on the car!

Ye gods, if you were closer to Derbyshire than Sussex I would employ you to repair mine. That really is sterling work.

By the way it is not as bad as yours was, but you have shown virtually nothing is terminal, it is just how far you are prepared to go.

Thanks Dave! Though you can't see the messier welds behind the spring mount

Sjvarley - I've got a Clarke 130EN running on gas. I'm sure there are nicer (and dearer) units out there but it's all I've ever had and I've learnt its ways (like getting to know a manual choke :D). It's good enough with thin sheets - tempting to use its 1/min (lowest) setting for thin stuff so you don't blow through as easily, but the penetration will be ****e. I find 1/max is best - though moving to different areas or just taking your time is more necessary with the extra heat. Oh and 0.8mm flux + tip.

Cheers for that I have been looking for an inverter mig (no typo Koala ) but they £300 plus I think our mig is
Pretty old. It's time to move on . On theifbay an Italian company do a multiple use machine for £250

I'm on Clarke 151TE converted to 20l gas bottles. Two down points so far: lack of EuRo type connector as torch selection is much greater, and gas wastage on the initial blow.
