Technical Gearbox issue

m having a problem with my 2005 Fiat panda.
When start the car, and the auto works. But then, it goes into Neutral and then will only drive using the manual gearbox, changing up. Will still change down automatically but I have to change up manually. Leave the car an hour and the auto works again for a short time!!!

Sadly, but realistically, I suspect your car is now worn out beyond the point at which it's economic to pay someone else to repair it. It's almost 20 years old; it's done well to last this long.
