Been giving this a lot of thought, searched around and asked car enthusiasts and think that i might have underpressure in the tank along the lines of what bugsymike thought about. The small hole in the gas cap isn't plugged but that might not be enough (which i thought it was and that that was the vent).

It could even be something else causing a lack of a good fuel supply.
Is it possible to make a temporary independent fuel supply directly to the carb to prove or disprove this as the problem.

Re the front suspension. If the front bushes were ever loosened and retightened they are best pinched up at road height. If someone has tightened up the a arm bolt and lower spring bolts when the car is in the air it can Emily cause a difference in ride height from one side to annother.

Alternatively I would check that both rear springs are good and without cracks and also check both rear springs have the metal and rubber mounts at the top.

Thanks a lot, Will definitely check when spring finally returns.

Spring never arrived, instead we got summer?
Test drove her a bit today, got her proper warm and parked outside at home, revving until she bogged - fuel filter empty. Opened tank cap, no change, so no underpressure - then rocked her a LOT and fuel started flowing again! So it's probably been stuff in tank blocking the flow all along...

So, how much hassle is it unmounting the tank for a clean?

Where are the fuel lines going originally from the sender unit? Inside the cover behind the engine? The fuel line coming from the sender unit is bent going out into the engine bay since the sender is angled 90 degrees

Normally they would stay behind the bulkhead and travel into the left hand wing through a hole high up but the rear quarter light then travel within the wing through a hanger bracket and then out below the bumper mount bracket.

If you access into the wing through the rear light hole you might be able to find the hole which accesses just behind the bulkhead. Pass an electrical wire through there to then pull the fuel line back through with it.
