Technical Evap Valve Solinoid

I have the p0101-62 error, (2012 1.2 500) when revs drop to tick over the eml and yellow triangle come on then stop start

My question isnt how to fix it but more what is it, what does the valve do? Does it just take petrol vapour/fuel back to the tank?

When using MES the evap value sits at 0 at tick over and rises to 70% around town

P0101-62 fault fixed

Did the usual

Earth cable

Air filter

Map sensor

Evap valve blanked off

None of these fixed it

So i kept reading and saw a couple of posts relating to intake air leaks

So i made a smoke tester kit

Parts needed

Bike tube
Bike pump
1 l Orange juice bottle
Length of hose
Sealant nozzle
Glue gun
Smoke matches ( toolstation )

See photos - aint pretty but it works

Then plumbed the smoke machine to the vacuum pipe from manifold to airfilter

Lit a match and put it in the bottle

covered the air intake with a gloved hand

Pumped in the smoke

Found leak round cylinder 1 & 2 inlet manifold to head seals

Took inlet manifold off - about 30 mins

Cleaned head surface

Took out inlet seals and cleaned them and the surface then flipped seals 180deg.

Put back together

Re ran the smoke test - no leaks

Took for a long stop start test drive

No p0101-62 woohoo

Good lateral thinking there to solve your issue! Brunel would have loved the smoke machine good job well done mate!

Do you have any advice or a tutorial on how to remove the inlet manifold, I need to replace the seals on my daughters car.

Done all that, with seeing things like "dropping engine, removing injector rail" etc, etc, I was just wondering how he did it in about 30 mins!!
