Hello!
Has anybody hade the experiencie with this fault "Power Steering Failure"???
I started my Stilo 1,6 16V yesterday in the evening and that message came on with the red banner of the steering wheel on dashboard.
Now the power steering system doesn´t work.
I checked the fuses and disconnect the battery also, but it didn´t help.

I will go to service to reset the computer on Monday, but I am not sure if it will help.

Could be, but I bought a new battery half year ago, 72 Ah, stronger than original.

Low battery not old battery! I can make any battery go low in a few hours, new or old just watch me!
If car's been idle for a while or you've only done short trips then it could easily be low. Charge it up and then try it again.

If it still persists then it's a different ball game and there may be some clues in that post as to what to try then

Will see on Monday after connecting to Examiner. Cross the fingers for me

I´ve just returned from Fiat service.
They plugged it in Examiner and found out these 3 faults:

1. C1001 Low battery
2. C1007 Faulty active element
3. C1013 Faulty control unit

They cleared the faults and everything is OK now.

2-nd and 3-rd fault is bull****, it can´t be, else the reset wouldn´t helped.

So it looks again to battery. :bang:

Yes, you were right! (y)
Still can´t believe it. Xmas in March :) It costed me only 15 Euro. :slayer:

Hope, that it will hold till the return to my garage in the evening for charging the battery. :worship:

After a 1/2 year again - Power Steering Failure
I visited Fiat service, they plugged the car to Examiner and read these faults:

1. C1007 Faulty active element - intermittent fault
2. C1013 Faulty control unit - intermittent fault

They told me, that they can not erase the faults and that I have to change the whole steering column

Battery is OK!

But in the afternoon I tried to remove the fuses which are connected to Power Steering system and turned the ignition on. It beeped and wrote Loose Connection - of course, the fuses were out.
Then I returned these 2 fuses back, started the car, the Power Steering stayed. I decided to park the car in to the garage and check the electronic tommorow aaaannnndddd  during parking the EBD/ASR Failure came out. I restarted the engine EBD Failure disappeared and the Power Steering stayed.

I dont understand this. It looks more for some "cable" or earth problems than the death of steering column.

Any ideas????? :worship:

So, I checked everything what I was able to check. Nothing helped. It looks that the steering definitely died

I´ve been thinking about buying a second-hand steering column.

I know there is a difference between 3 and 5 door car´s sterring column.
Something else yet?
Any advices what should I focus for?
Does it depend on the production year, or not?

Well I went through all this, in the end I just bit the bullet and got a second hand one for £150, faults gone touch wood!
