had a bit of a run today and on roads that allowed me to open it up a little. got to say i was a little disappointed at times. a few times i was doing around 80 and put ma foot down to get a little more out of it and seemed as tho it struggled a lttle. also it was a little noisey as tho exhast was blowing a little. driving ok low speeds tho. one thing ive picked up tho is that when im standing and floor the acc peddle seems to be a delay in it before revs pick up...any ideas? its only 4 months old with 4k on the clock :bang:

That's just the way they are, i haven't really noticed a delay though but i have replaced the standard air filter with a k&n so that helps make it more responsive and it get round to the 120mph mark noticeably faster as well, so i'd say get a replacement element or even better the BMC CDA airbox that people rave about! 'and get a performance exhaust to help further, also you should try filling up with shell optimax or bp ultimate, i've found that helps improve initial pick-up and it helps if you rag it through every gear to just under the 7k mark as well :D . (y)

how much is the box? i use optimax 99% of the time. funny i got in today and seems back to normal. very strange.

mine seems to have its on and off days. im looking for a place that does throttle bodies for it ive already got full supersprint system and 4 branch manifold. any one got any ideas?

stock standard

they are the only mods unless you count denso iridium plugs or removing the gauze infront of the afm ???

i have graphs and about 20 witness too.

It would be nice to see the exact difference between before and after mods, I'm not saying your HGT couldn't run 149.5bhp, I assume this is on the fly?

But 20Bhp from a BMC CDA and Exhaust sounds an awful lot.

Maybe you HGT was running a very nice amount before these mods, maybe you got a damn good one!

mate i owned the car from new and it ha had various filters etc on it and exhausts

it may well be that it was running 133bhp or sumink before hand

either way it really is just a case of a filter and full system will reap 20bhp on them.

i'm not sure whats so hard to believe its a 16v 1.8 not a 1242

obv fly btw

I still can't believe it! I know a hgt isn't a 1.2, but I would never expect that performance from my Cup, (though I haven't rolling roaded it).

If that is the case, then fair play, as it's a damn cheap and good way to get 20Bhp extra.

Just out of interest was the rolling road place you used for before and after the same place?

i never said i did a before

the rollling road was track and road in rainham essex on a rolling road day with punto sports

i was looking online for my graph but i must have taken it off my photbucket for some reason i will post the graph hopefully this evening

i can see no other reason for the increase in bhp as i have done nothign else

as for other figures it 1/4 in 15.8 @ 85 ish and 0-60 timed at 7.6

both times were with the side exit rather than the abarth cup exhaust

i'd say it was a bit slow tbh me mate ran a 7.3 in his although he had no rear seats in etc.

i'd say a well looked after and setup hgt with similar mods would run lower than 7.3 and shoudl run a 15.5 or there abouts on the 1/4

And how did you work that out???? Take the engine out and mount it to a dyno bench? No, thought not.

I'm not slagging you off mate, and I'm not saying that you're lying, but there's NO WAY of giving ACCURATE fly figures while the engine's still in the car.

What was your before and after wheels figure? That's much more accurate...

i didn't say i did before and after and i didn't say it was accurate i said thats what the graph said

judging by the other vehicles roaded the same day fairly accurate results seem evident from the way the cars perform on the road against each other

the majority of cars were GT's running seb 2 setups or higher

i appreciate the figure is high but its not really something i'm gonna lose sleep over

I understand that the graph said what it said, but do you know how they worked out the fly figure? What sort of transmission losses were they using?

Those graphs aren't worth the paper they're printed on and neither are flywheel bhp figures (unless you've dyno'd the engine).

Come on people play nicely now..... :)

:D

I wasn't playing nastily, just stating the facts!

It's great to get the dyno graph with a decent figure on it and it's exciting seeing your car on the rollers, but it's meaningless in the real world unless the graphs show wheel figures, or you know the exact % transmission loss of your car!
