Does anyone know how far a exhaust is aloud to stick out the back of the car, my cherry bomb is sticking out the back of my punto about 8 or so inches my mate said that someone could trip over it and i could get done but i think that he is over reacting a bit

i thought it couldn't over hang the bumper, as in if u look directly down you shouldnt be able to see it due to the bumper

Im under the impression that nothing can protrude from your vehicle that is a potential hazard to a pedestrian or other road user. E.G. if you put wide wheels on your vehicle then you also have to fit extended wheel arches.
If thats correct then im afraid your mate is right

8" 's is quite far!!! like a diving board at the local 'pool! lol

tbh it is dangerous, you could probably get away with 3" 's but 8

your mates probably right, check the dvla website or highway code book might be in there

the cherry bombs are one set length si

mines practically flush with the bumper

i thought cherry bombs were too loud to be road legal anyway

Thanks for all the advice guys i think i will take of the mesh pipe part in the middle of the pipe and put on a shorter solid pipe......also my exhaust was fitted by a mechanics in glasgow you would think that they would fit it to be legal to cover they're ass aswell dont you, and i cant take it back to them cos it was the last owner that had it fitted also my exhaust is not very loud at all just a nice hummmm from it

now i hear that the mesh bit is the flexi pipe and i need that to stop the exhaust from breaking under preasure ...now i dont know what to do about it

simple. get it in the bin and buy a nice supersprint exhaust

there is a small amount it can stick out, else you wouldnt be allowed tow hitches as they are not flush. sounds badly mounted if its 8" out

not 8" s then is it lol

well i should say 8 inches was a estimate i havnt actually measured it

The bumper on the fiorino sticks out by about 10 inches, and when i took it for the mot, the tester didnt say anything about it being too long.
