On monday im going on holiday and have a 150 mile journey to do , tomorrow i will be be filling up with fuel and giving the car a good check over .

just wondering what tyre pressures you would recommened.

I'm running sporting alloys with 195/50/15 Toyo proxes T1-R's

the length of the journey isn't so important,
LOTS of highspeed ( m-way) you would want them on the "fully-laden" figure in the handbook,
unfortunately mine doesn't cover the 15" wheels,
but suspect it'll be @ 34 / 35 psi

wait for confirmation there..!!, ( and have a good trip)

On average front are standard 35 and rears 32 (odd number), the other day I pumped mine up to 40 for some long drives with a heavy load and everything was fine

Hi,

The book states for a 1.2 8v

Standard
Front 29 psi
rear 28 psi

Full load
Front 32psi
Rear 30psi

Obviously there are slight variations depending on the model etc. for example the heavier JTD's run a couple of extra Psi as standard.

Be careful inflating your tires to 40psi! Many small tyres such as those fitted to puntos have a MAX pressure of around 40psi. Bear in mind the pressure will increase as the temperature of the tyre increases. A tyre that is 40psi cold could be 45+ when hot.

The maximum inflation pressure should be stated on the side wall of your tyre. Over inflation can be just as dangerous as under inflation.



Thats a tyre I took of a mk2b earlier.... max pressure 44psi.

Personally I normally stick 31psi in the fronts and 29 in the rears.

cheers for the advice guys . just another quick question save making another thread, my radio reception seems to be a little ****ty at the moment but the whip piece that screws into the base seems a little loose , can this be tightened , sure i managed to get a plastic cover off before which reveled a screw to tighten ,but i cant seem to now

155/80 r13 79T

165/70 r14 2.2 front 2.2 (fully laden')

185/60 r14 82h 2.4 front 2.3 rear (fully laden')

Hi mate,

As you say, it can be tightened. The cover should un clip IIRc but it can be a bit fiddly to do without damaging it. If you do get it off, give it a good clean with some emery cloth or similar where the swivel point meets the base.

I normally just replace the base when they start getting old and tired.

How exactly does it come apart do you just stick a small screw driver in the end nearest the back of the car in the little hole , And leaver it one way or the other
