I bought a Punto 1.2 sporting in December and after about a month i started to hear what sounds like a grinding, no matter which gear im in once you've engaged the gear and start to accelerate its a low grinding sound, should i be worried about it or is it just one of those things i have to get used to???? Any suggestions much appreciated.

almost certainly the differential, so you may lose all drive without warning. well thats not strictly true because you're getting a constant warning right now, but i mean you may lose drive without any further warning, so join the AA if you dont plan to replace the diff until it goes. this isnt uncommon on the 1.2.

however, you may be very lucky and simply have a leak which has lead to a noisey gearbox, check the fluid and topup if neccessary, and look for any sign of leaks at both the driveshaft seals.
