Exactly, and that may be causing the noise...Try loosening them a bit. Does it happen on wet weather only?

No, all weathers, I have adjusted the rubbers both ways, made zilch difference.

I have ordered new drop legs for the ante roll bar.

Also booked in for new front brake pads, they may be rattling.

Solution to my problem was perished transmission rubber in the nearside arch that was knocking off some part of the body (this is as good a description as I got :D) so may be worth a shot. Can't be of any more help on this one as the garage did all the work (twice :bang:).

Also, when I hit a large pothole in winter, a new, even more interesting noise came back. It's a crunchy, scrapey noise now, so gonna try the solution to the Evian Bottle Problem, and if not then get the mechanic to have a look when I'm getting my lowering springs fitted.

Good luck finding the cause.

Knocking is getting louder on my nearside front but still no nearer to finding a cause. It may have to be the main dealer, they want £52 just to have a listen to it.
My usual mechanic has been unable to find the cause of the fault other than the nearside front wheel leans in towards the engine 10mm at the top.
I am going to another garage on Monday that do laser alignment, I hope they find it or next stop is the dealer.
I am loathe to go there because when I took my wifes Stilo to them with'wandering steering', they quoted £3500 parts and labour to fix it.
They did not know what was causing it of course, so they just priced up to change everything that could be causing it and then reccommended that we sell her car. Turned out to be rear VOID BUSHES found by our local mechanic and fixed for £200. This was one of the items on thier list, luckily we did not have to do any of the other stuff.

Wish me luck:confused::confused:

Resolved now:D

The knocking was coming from the shaft of the shock absorber, it was loose in the leg, also the leg (strut) was bent as a result of going over the pot hole.

£312.00 WORSE OFF, But now no knocking.
