Hi All

I have not posted anything on the 500 section before so please be kind.

I am currently rebuilding a Lancia Y10 (see thread below) and it is now in the paint shop getting four weeks of TLC. I was down there yesterday and conversation got round to what colour to choose. I had set my mind on a colour that I saw on a 500 Abarth. I think it is called Pasadoble Red as below.

Can anyone help with a paint code for this? I also want to find out if it is only available as a water based paint with a top coat.

If anyone has other paint codes for other reds that fiat use that would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Dave

Nice work doing up a Y10 :) Were you tempted to make an Yntegrale? :)

Hi Dave,

I used to own a 500 in Pasadoble Red & as stated, the paint code is
111/A. It's also a solid colour, not metallic.

Always tempting to get 300bhp+ and 4wd in a car that is only 750kg but £££££££££ then some more ££££££.

The Yntegrale is a beast and a fine piece of engineering. Unfortunately it isn't on the road and I wanted a project that I could actually use.

Cheers

 I find Pasodoble Red to be a bit of an enigma. Sometimes you see it (as in pic above) and it looks terrific, I love bright reds. Other times it looks really dull and without a lot of depth. I guess it is down to the type of ambient light which to me is the reason it did not figure in my colour choices.

Same here, sometimes I really like it and sometimes it's a bit meh. BNW is just good all round :)

Went down to my local Fiat dealer earlier and had a look at a few 500's in Pasadoble Red. Some were inside some out in a range of trim levels from popular to Abarth. I have to say this colour does float my boat but take on board your comments as you guys know these cars and colours.

I have been thinking long and hard about the final choice of colour as something that looks great on one car could look rubbish on another. With so few Y10's on the road it was always going to be a bit of a gamble.

Once the Y10 is back from the paint shop I will post some pics of it to see if you think it suits Pasadoble Red.

If anyone is interested the thread below is showing the final bits of the rebuild.

Thanks

Dave

When I owned my Pasadoble Red 500 I thought the colour was a bit dull so I waxed it with Collinite 476 & the colour came up a treat. It's a great wax to use on solid red colours.

I realise I am probably in a minority but I am not a fan of BNW. Funk White looks great, as does yellow and pasabodle red, also like the electrocash grey.

Others like the black I would take it or leave it

I guess it's all down to personal taste. I've sold my 500 in Pasadoble Red & purchased another 500 (Abarth) in BNW & love the colour, as I feel it suits the shape of the car, if that makes sense !

Lovely Y10, Dave. It's great to see one again. There used to be several in my area during the '80's & most of them were White with a Black tailgate.
A job well done :)

Nice, fantastic car even though 99% of the people in this forum won't appreciate it :(

Thanks guys.

There are not many of them left now. Even when lancia were still in the UK you would hardly see any on the road. Thought I would make a real effort with this one to preserve it for a few more years. :D

Yeah it's a little sad to see so few cars from the second half of the 80's into the early 90's getting the love they deserve. I'm hoping to do a similar job on the wifes L-reg Legacy Turbo when our long term money situation is a bit clearer.

I used to own an F reg Lancia Delta only the 1.3, but loved driving it, the lampredi designed engine was a gem, shame the hatch rotted in the usual place. It was a toss up between the Fulvia and the Alfa 105 coupe for my 1st classic the Alfa just came up first.
