Technical Ypsilon Misfire [intermittent]

Is it worth doing a compression test? I had a very similar issue on a Mini 1.6 petrol a few years ago (completely different I know) and it turned out to be a couple of cracked valves which a compression test identified straight away
wouldn't that cause it to play up all the time, not intermittent?

Mine was very hit and miss, I went as far as changing the cat and everything to try and solve it, but like i say totally different engine. ECU does sound like a possibility to me

was having a look around [as you do]. not sure why but this bolt was missing. i,ve [gingerly] put an m8x40mm bolt in there, so there is definately thread in there.
firstly, should there be a bolt in there? if so, how long should it be?

i didn't put irridium in there. just standard plugs. misfire was there before and aft.
Right. I didn't have any error messages though - it was only being able to see the stats on MES on the laptop that directed me to it. It sounds 'electronic' and MES might help at least confirm (e.g. if it is ECU), though who knows... Intermittent is the worst thing.

yeah, but that's getting someone with a laptop with fiats system on it, and willing to help. most companies i've spoke to don't seem to want to help. or admit they will just try their best [after 3 hours labour].

Having never previously heard of Sea Foam, I looked it up. Not recommended for modern engines… here’s the AI search result. It’s not likely ti be the cause of your issue, but also unlikely to help fix it in any way.

To be fair I’ve used it a few times on more modern vehicles and found it very effective. Seems to be anything you put through a car nowadays other than pure fuel can “damage the catalytic converter”
