It seems someone has taken the time and started to work on modern diagnostics software for FIAT's, Alfa's and Lancia's - its called (for now) FiatEcuScan and can be obtained at http://fiatecuscan.net/.
maybe the software has been mentioned on here before, but I have been doing some testing with it and have to say its a fine piece of work so far. Its written in .net so will work with XP, vista and 7. It works with a simple K-line interface (buy or build one), and will work with normal com-ports and USB serial port cables. It looks like it needs a fairly fast machine to run (1.5 GHz processor quoted) due to .net and timing requirements.
I only have diesels to test with, but it communicates no problems and reads fault codes and live data, and does actuations on my ECU's and airbags. there seems to be good support for all of the older systems (even the TD100 is covered and works fine), so if anyone has the interest, knowledge and time to try it out it would be worth doing, and maybe let the developer know how it worked. there is a forum on the site for this. It doesn't look open source but maybe in future it will be..
