im close to doing a deal on a redtop for my project car. i was browsing youtube, looking at vids of it, and one had bike carbs with it.

so what advantage/disadvantage would this bring to the engine in itself? surely carbs off a car would be better for it wouldn't it?

The idea behind the bike carbs is that they are generally more reliable (how many bikes do you see broken down on the side of the road???) and give more power. They can be picked up quite cheap (how many riders have trashed their bikes? LOADS! (Making carbs/parts readily available):)

What has the seller done for the ignition system? standard dizzy has no mechanical advance retard and standard ecu needs the afm to measure load so if an aftermarket ecu has not been used it will run like a bag of ****e. If an aftermarket ecu has been fitted why has the seller wasted money on bike carbs when bike throttlebodies would cost the same but have several advantages over carbs without any disadvantages? Something is amiss.

if your asking about the redtop i might be buying, its a completely normal one. i was just asking if bike carbs brings an advantage, as i saw a video with one on youtube. as far as im aware the ecu is a standard redtop ecu.
what advantages will bike throttlebodies have over bike carbs then?

Off the top of my head so appologies if I'm off target

1) Mutiple carbs / chokes never existed and small capacity car engines.
2) Bikes with small capcity engines whanting to extract even more used the multi-carb solutions that the motor sport car tuners did
3) Being bikes space, size and weight were absolutely crucial
4) Bike carbs on the Fiat 900 to 1100cc engines have been successful.

Now that most modern bikes use fuel injection to better overall effect and reliability than cars then small bike fuel injection bodies may be a good way to go?
