I quite like the fiat idea, the front of it looks quite nice. The back end puts me off though.

The above has the 1.4 16v engine in. It doesnt look even remotely sporty. 0-60 time is identical to that of the GP 1.4 16v Sporting.

I think the Idea is a great street sleeper:p

Fuggly Moms car IMO

Doblo shrunk in the wash :p

You do have a point that it is a bit of a sleeper, and stripped out with some simple performance mods could really embarrass some BMW/Audi/VW drivers. Just a shame it's fugly and not much you could do could hide that fact imo

And if you think the Idea is ugly, you haven't seen a Meriva yet:eek:.

The Idea had a lot going for it but a lot against it. The price difference between the Punto 2 and the Idea (same platform) was/is too high. The steering and suspension are big letdowns, especially with the 1.9 JTD. Mine had the 205/50 R 16s and it still felt like the front didn't have much grip and the steering got scary from time to time. Interior fit and finish also left something to be desired. What scares me is that the Lancia Musa (same car underneath) just replaced the 100 HP 1.9 JTD with the 125 HP 1.6 JTD but did not make any improvments to the steering and suspension(n).

On the plus side, the 1.9 JTD, interior space and flexibility, equipment (Mine was an Emotion/Eleganza). The Idea was also one of Fiat's better cars from a reliability standpoint.

Price kept it from being a succes everywhere in Europe.

In terms of handling the ride is bumpy and not very comfortable even in standard trim. Mine has Novitec springs lowered 40mm/40mm, and 215-45-17 alloys. Improves handling a lot - but does NOT improve city comfort.

It is a good car, and it looks good from some angles, and rubbish from other :D
