Went to Halfords today to get some sparkplugs for my 8v Punto and was somewhat confused to see several types listed for the 8v 1.2 depending on exact engine designation. How do I find out exactly what spec engine I have?

I would have said NGK BKR5EZ or equivalent for a 1.2 8V. I have used Bosch and Eyquem equivalents. What are Halfords offering ? They all seem confused in there depending on who's on.

Not sure - I was looking at those card files they have on the shelves where you look up your model and they tell you which part you need. I knew the oil filters came in 2 different flavours so I'd gone under the car to check dimensions of currently fitted part, but didn't expect to have to do the same with the plugs...

Three iirc. One of them comes in two different lengths. I'd say the NGK above would be fine. I avoid Bosch now because the last time one of them lost the nose insulator and pockmarked a cylinder. One in a million probably but all the same.

Fiat Fit NGK in factory
sure it has fiats name on it - buts an NGK plug

There are 2 type for the 1.2 8v, one upto i think is like 2005 which is smaller, for some bizarra reason i think some mk2b are classes as ""grande"" been a 2006 with late 2006 mk2b's causing a larger size to be offered...

I think thats why

Eitherway - your manual will tell you your spark plugs believe it or not :)

NGK - Fiat - Champion, they are the only 3 they recommend

I had this problem before on my mk2b they gave me the smaller sparks plugs and I had to take them back and get the bigger ones.
