Now I'm not boy racer but every now and again I am finding myself wanted to beat some cock off the line and I'm having trouble through 1st and 2nd. I'm finding it hard to get off quickly without wheelspinning like a turd. Even if I shift to 2nd quick I can still end up wheelspinning.

Was just wondering if theres anything I can do to avoid this (it's a Tjet 150) and I was considering getting it ramapped in the Spring/Summer but won't that make it even worse? I'm worried I'm going to shread my nice new tyres!

BTW I'm coming from a 1.2 8v Mk2 Punto so you could nearly totally floor that without a hint of wheelspin where as the Bravo I seem to only be able to offer about half the pedal down otherwise I'm all over the place.

Its the nature of the beast my friend.......I have a 150 mjet remaped to 196bhp and it likes to spin up in 1st 2nd and 3rd in the wet you will just have to learn throttle control dont just mash it to the floor, feed the power in and feel for the wheel spin and slacken off a wee bit to regain grip

Practise your launches without TC on. Try launching from different amount of revs and feed you power in to stop them spinning up. Basically just experiment with your launches on a quiet road somewhere where you can pull up which few people use :)

pretty much as above, i feed in my clutch and throttle to get maximum grip, its just experience that allows you to do it better..

you are driving a turbo so what RPM are you launching at?

my turbo is at full boost by 2500rpm and i launch the car at 3000rpm, raise revs to 3k, find the bite, release clutch and apply power in a smooth motion and there will be the slightest hint of the wheels skittering as you accelerate.

i dunno how my technique will work for you as i have just a bit more torque and LSD, give it a go though....

How do I turn the TC off? It keeps coming up on the dash saying possible ice on road and theres the ice button near my climate control.

Yeah I know it's just my pants driving and trying to get use to the car.

Please tell me you know what this is.... or does no-one read their owner's manual?

Isn't it a magic button that put's ice on the road in front of me to make my journey more 'interesting' :D

On a serious note the dash display of 'possable ice on road' is exactly what it says. It warns you that there may be ice present on the road so take care. I think it kicks in at 3'C and below (the temperature where ice can start to form on road surfaces).

The little 'ice' button on your climate control is solely for use on your climate control.

They aren't linked lol

just ease up on the throttle - less right foot my friend(y)

Oh ASR off turns off the traction

Don't have an ASR button? It's a Dynamic?

I've read the manual, but theres loads in there, I've only ever owned 1 other car and that was povety spec and I've yet to read the manual whilst driving, meaning I've usually forgotten what I've read by the time I get round to driving :D

So what does the ICE button do

On a more serious note I did a 100 mile journey to and from Portsmouth today down the A3 and I loved it, the power through 5th and 6th amazed me. Loved it :D

I thought the ICE button turned on the In Car Entertainment, or automatically called your In Case of Emergency number on your phone, or meant you became a member of the Institute of Civil Engineers:D

What tyres you running?

Dunno and it's dark :p

17's that came with the two tone alloys if that helps ;)

Came round a corner today pretty slow, down to second doing about 20 and put my foot about half the way down as I brought the clutch up. Wheelspin madness, I wiggled with the steering wheel a bit and it was as if the car was never going to stop wheel spinning unless I reduced the gas, which I did after about 4 or 5 seconds.

I am getting better through first now though.

Also something I've noticed when bringing the clutch up in 1st or 2nd I can feel what I think is a grinding through the pedal. It's not in any of the other gears, and not even that much is 2nd. But when in first and moving off slow you can feel as you lift up the pedal gives some feedback as it something is grinding.

Something to be worried about?

Just came off a roundabout, slipped into second and foot down. Crazy amounts of wheelspin and then snapping back as the grip kicks in.

Loving the car more and more everyday.

It's fun :D

it's normal for the car to spin the wheels in first and second gear because of its strenght ( over 200 Nm, turbo etc..). Mine also doesn't have asr, and spins the wheels in second any time i want to.. You just have to learn to drive it
