For a while i didn't use any cleaners on my wheels, as i never have in the past, but multispoke white powder coated OZ super turismo WRC's are a pain to clean.

I started using some autoglym wheel cleaner.

I have heard it strips the lacquer from alloy wheels, but as i'm powdercoated, is it fine to use?

After spending so much money, i don't want to trash then :(

I think that powder-coating should be fine against even the stronger acid-based wheel cleaners that you can buy.

Personally I'd use those rather than abrasive cleaners such as G3 (or to put it another way, the G3 for renovation and the acid-based wheel cleaners for maintenance)

Polyglaze is the product I use, don't know if that's available in the UK, the aerosol releases a thick foam that (according to the label) contains 38g/kg alkaline salts. I guess then it's not an acid-based wheel cleaner at all - it's really an alkaline-based wheel cleaner... but this is distinct from the type that claim to be "non-acid" and don't actually work as well.

Brick cleaner is that acid based? I tend to find if you clean the wheels then polish afterwards it should be easy to keep the wheels clean for a fair while before more polish is required.

believe it or not i use brick cleaner on mine strips all the brake dust and crap straight off then hose straight away no need to scrub them.

i got some of this from wickes, it smell like wonder wheels and stuff like that fluffs up like woner wheels, but only £5 a gallon not £7 a small bottle.

i think it is same stuff that they sell as wheel cleaner but stronger, it burns when you splast it on your hands

Use a good non caustic cleaner like MUC OFF or Meguiars APC take the wheels off if you have to to get into all the nooks and crannies, dry and then wax with a wheel wax or a good quality hardwearing wax like Collinite after that they will be a doddle to keep clean.

Late to this but you could strip them and get get a local refurber to fire on a power of laquer to them just watch you don't get ripped off.
