Technical What could be a silly question about putting up the roof

Hey all,

Just got a "doer-upper" that needs a good bit of work.
I'm having trouble closing the roof fully.
Can't get it past where it shows in the image.
It comes up easy enough and then stops solid, as if I need to pull another lever or something to release it or something silly.
I should remember as 20 years ago (or maybe more ) a girlfriend of mine had a lovely metallic blue B and I don't remember anything special in putting the roof up.
If there isn't a knack in getting it up, any idea what may be wrong with it?

It shouldn't be a sweat, but you need to get the geometry right. Have you tried lifting/folding up the rear section, then pushing the front section down, to get it in line with the middle section, and then pushing the rear section down again?

Given the state of the roof I'd take it off and throw it away! Lol. Drive it when it's not gonna rain. You know it makes sense.

Just remember not to use the screen wash and any way there are no wipers so no good washing.

Ya, tried many combinations of lifting, pushing and dragging etc. It is like it hits a stop. Put reasonable force on it but didn't want to over do it either. Must be a geometry thing.

I had to ask the bloke at DTR how to open and close the hood when I picked the car up ,I had no idea .

The only hoods I had previously opened were electric SAAB ones .

Just remember to always fold the plastic window carefully when opening , especially if it's a cold day or else you might end up tearing it .

At the stage in the photograph I would lift the the rear section of the hood, close the cover and then get inside to bring the front down and secure with the 2 locks.

Took some photos of the sequence for my car if that's of any help. The last step where you straighten the top part of the roof is the one that feels stiffest.

Thanks so much for putting up those images. I'm getting stuck going from image 4 to image 5. It's like it reaches a stop. Think I have found adjusting screws. Will have a look later.

If I lived in southern Spain or Italy I probably would close the roof and not worry about using it again. Unfortunately in south west Eire that's not an option. Although today is perfect fir a cabrio.
