Hello, I have a black Fiat Grande punto. However I have a few marks on the paint work which I can only describe as sun cream hand marks. It also has a few light scratches.

So I'm thinking of having my car waxed using Autoglym HD Wax.

Has anyone waxed their car using this before, if so would you recommend it?

Also do you think waxing will remove the hand marks and light scratches?

Many Thanks.

Autoglym is pants, In my experience, use ZYMOL cleaner wax, get it from Halfords, it takes out marks and scratches, best stuff IMO.
If your a Sunday wash kinda guy that is, not a tooth brush take the wheels off to clean it kinda guy, then your into claybar and HD cleanse world with £100+ hand wax etc.

Cleaner wax will probably be alright but personally for the sake of it I'd buy some quality polish (autoglym super resin) then top off with hd wax or similar..

To remove scratches and swirls you need to compound the area with cutting compound and that'll take them out, then you polish the area after and then apply your wax. Wax isn't meant to remove scratches or swirls at all

Oh right okay thanks, will a compound dull my paint work at firsts and also I have recently had one of the car doors re sprayed will it affect this?

What product would you recommend me to use ?

I have been looking at a few, what do you think?

Meguiar's Ultimate Compound: Amazon.co.uk: Car & Motorbike

Many Thanks.

It dulls it at first initially when u put it on but then when u buff it off it goes shiny but it won't effect the door you have had re-sprayed. I would highly recommend either meguairs ultimate compound or G3 farecula. I'd go with meguairs but remember u need to polish afterwards as you use cutting compound first then a less abrasive substance so polish to give the surface the best finish possible. You could use meguairs compound and top it off with meguairs polish but if not then autoglym polish would do or any other type of decent polish. Do your compounding by hand, it'll require elbow grease but the risk of using an electric polisher is you might burn through to paint and that won't happen by hand.

Okay great thanks. Should I use this only on the scratches or on the whole car? Also I think I would polish it after using AutoGlym Super Resin Polish, would that be okay?

Will the paint work go dull again after a few months when the polish wears off?

Many thanks.

I wouldn't use on whole car if you don't need to because it's just a waste of time. Anywhere where there are scratches and scuffs, swirls etc then use. Using autoglym srp wi be fine it's important to use a good polish and autoglym is. No the car won't go dull after a few months. Basically it's just like sanding with very fine sandpaper and then polishing. The compound has a polishing aspect to it but is abrasive so it removes scratches and polishes the surface but compound then polish and you will be left with a shiny surface that won't go dull.
