Problem

On my 2012 Fiat Punto (1.4 FIRE engine without turbo) there is a warning light in the dashboard. This light comes on when the ignition is switched on and before you start the engine. The light also remains on while the engine is running. I'm no expert, but the car seems to drive normally and the engine sound is also good.

This concerns the following light:

The booklet contains the following problems:

  • speed limit exceeded: this is not possible because the car is stationary.
  • fuel cut-off activated: would be a strange message, because the car has no extra messages
  • start-stop problem: there should be an extra icon, but this doesn't seem to be the case.
  • Parking sensor error: this is not there, so it would be strange if this error were included.
  • oil pressure sensor: No idea, but there should also be a message in the display?
  • tire pressure sensor: this is not there, so it would be strange if this error were included.
  • rain sensor: ditto, not included.
  • airbag broken: an extra light should also appear.

Now I have tried the following:

  • removed the negative terminal of the battery for a few minutes, which should have reset the car.
  • read it with a cheap OBD scanner, I did get data from this, but no error codes or old error codes.
  • When the fog lights were connected, it turned out that the connectors had vibrated loose, but this did not make the light disappear.
  • Coolant was slightly topped up (was slightly below minus), this was not the case either.
  • Added some oil (there wasn't a huge amount that needed to be added).

Considerations:

And I could still consider the following things:
  • Read the car with MultiECUscan, what is the advantage of this compared to the OBD scanner? Can you read more about this or does it show the same thing?
  • preventively replace or clean the oil pressure sensor?
  • take the car to the garage.
  • check and measure all fuses.
  • suggestions from you?
  • Do nothing? I would expect that if it were a serious glitch there would be more information.

If you would like more information to help me, please let me know in the comments.

Any help is welcome, thanks in advance

I have the amber warning light on, all lights seem to be ok apart from when I turn headlights sometimes 1 or the other fog light comes on, could this be causing the warning light?
