I inherited my Seicento from a friend with no owner's manual. A warning lamp has just started coming on and I don't know what it means and whether it's safe to drive the car. It's an orange warning lamp shaped like a little engine and it's staying on all the time. It's not the oil lamp, temp lamp, brake lamp or battery lamp. What does it mean? Can anyone enlighten me please?!

thats the engine management light.

there is sensors all around the engine which read the engine is running currectly. if one sensor shows that something isnt working within its parameters it will log a error code for that specific sensor and put on that warning light for 24 hours. its safe to drive depending on the fault.

your best bet is to take it to fiat and get the error codes read soon. the computer will delete the error code after 500 key turns. they will be able to tell you what the fault is and the best way of either you or they solving it. unfortunatly they charge about £20 to get the faults read!

mine came on friday after having a cambelt change, got it read saturday morning, turned up to be 27 faults for coil pack 1!!! sounded expensive but new spark plugs sorted it! so its not always serious
