tyres seem to have a good all around performance according to description weather wize wouldnt mind the odd track day but mostly for normal road use

£180 for all four posted then fitment on top

or the p6000 ment to be lethal in the wet tho ?

iirc its 50 for a mk2, been a while since I bought tyres for a mk2

And I can't comment at the tyres you been looking at, but I can recommend toyo's and Yoki's, both are around the £200 mark, fitted and balanced.

I paid £206 at RSR last week for all corners with yoki's, fitted, balanced, new valves and waste disposal.

The proper replacement size of tire will depend on the height of the original factory fit. That's to keep your speedo and MPG about the same. You may want to check around and see what corresponds. In my owners' manual, the standard size is 185/60 R 14 H but the only suggested alternative is 185/55 R 15 H or faster. those can be replaced by 195/50 R 15s or even 205/45 R 15s if they exist and your rims will accept them. Normally the rule is for every 10 mm of width you add, you subtract 5 from the aspect ratio (2nd number in the size) to keep your rolling radius within limits. Note that this nearly always gives you a tire that's slightly shorter than the original but within tolerance. You'll need to deal with charts and tables if you're changing the wheel diameter.

For the mk2, the correct size is 195/50 R15.

I drive on 185/55 R14 Yokohama s.drive tyres and these are just fabulous. Grip in the dry, grip in the wet and a wonderfully progressive transition when you are at the grip limit. Unfortunately, I don't think these are available in 195/50 R15, only the /45.

Previously, I did use Yokohama A539s. These were fine in the dry, but had a very grip-grip-HEDGE attitude in the wet.

185/55 is correct size and anything wider is not necessary.

195/50's if you have to go 195's which is understandable due to cost.

Allow me to recommend Uniroyal Rallye R550's as an excellent wet weather tyre.

Federal SS535's aren't as bad as a lot of people believe. I'ved used them in the past and got decent results.

In both cases, it more than pays to shop around...
