Hi,

Could I ask for some advice please?

Daughter's 2014 1.2 was left standing for 2 or 3 weeks and the battery was entirely dead after that. I replaced the battery and it now refuses to start.

It turns over fine but doesn't catch. Prior to the flat battery it started first time every time. Clip of what it sounds like attached.

There is fuel in the tank.

I've checked for error codes with multi ecu scan, there are none.

I've checked all the fuses.

I replaced the plugs, all four were very sooty. Made no difference.

It appears to be getting a good spark (I checked three of the four anyway).

Presumably it isn't getting fuel, or maybe not getting a spark at the right time. I'm kind of hoping this may be some common and hopefully inexpensive problem :). Could anyone suggest where to go next?

Thanks,

John.

Hello,

The video is somehow broken. Can you post a photo of the speedometer? Isn't there the immo LED on? First thing that comes to my mind is that the immobilizer transponder in the keyfob was desynchronised from the ECU.

EDIT: can you hear the fuel pump after turning the key?
Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I think maybe the video might be too large. Basically the starter turns and then it's as though the engine is repeatedly trying to fire but maybe on only one cylinder or maybe at the wrong time.

When I turn on the ignition I can hear a faint whir as it goes through its start up sequence, I guess that could be the fuel pump?
Once that's completed the speedo looks as per the attached pic, I don't think there is an immobiliser light, though not 100% sure what I'm looking for. The engine turns and there is a spark.

thanks.
John.

Disconnect the battery leave half an hour and try again, do you have both keys?
When you come to start, turn on ignition wait for fuel pump to prime then crank, does the car have Bluetooth ( this maybe the battery issue cause )
Also if not done it will need a new engine earth strap
I disconnected the battery for a while, with no expectation that it would work, but rude not to try it.
It sprang into life.
Thank you!
So what on earth was going on there? It was turning over, it was sparking. I guess the ecu just got its knickers in a twist.

Anyway, thanks again, now I just need to find out why the radio has stopped working and track down the worrying clunk from the front end.

Yey, was thinking fuel cut off

Clunking try replacing both drop links, cut them off
