Technical Track Rod Ends

Hey guys,

Is anyone able to tell me how to remove and replace the front track rod ends

Raise car, remove front wheels, undo track rod end nut and loosen lock nut on threaded section. Unwind and remove track rod end (note number of turns) and fit new one in reverse order. Carry out tracking afterwards.

Fairly simple task as T says above this should help





Plenty of release oil will help if you dont have a air impact wrench

It does seem to need more than I thought :/

I bought a ball joint splitter (was informed that was what I required) but looks like I don't need one.

it might be needed although if your replacing the item slacken the lower nut off then wind it back on till its 3/4 or so wound on the threaded stud

then bash it upwards with a hammer once loose then wind the nut off and remove the TRE By not fully winding it back on the nut protects the end of the tread from been burred over when hitting with hammer ensuring you can still remove the nut
