I have just fitted a Panda 'towsure' towbar from Brocott UK however when it came to the wiring I cannot work out how and no clear instructions.
There is a plug (6 very thin multi coloured wires) which I thought and assummed I would be able just to plug into and hey presto. However the towbar came with the standard 7 wires with different colours and blue joining clips.
Please can someone help on my next step.
Do I just map these colours and it will work?
or do I need to do something else?
Many thanks in advance
James

Surely the plug means you should be able to link straight to it or am I very misguided

With the correct wiring loom harness from Fiat maybe but yours isn't.

It'll be alot cheaper and easier (and probably safer also) to use a 7-way bypass relay and wire it directly to the light unit wiring looms on the car.

Jon.

Thanks Jon
Where do you recommend getting one for a good price?

You can buy model specific looms to plug straight into most newer cars but don't expect much change out of £100.
I bought a bypass relay at the same time as I bought my towbar, they only cost a few quid. It was simple enough to run a power supply to the back of the car, pick up earth and scotch the rest of the wires in.
Wiring diagrams for the socket are plentiful on the web...

for example. You just need to work out the car's wiring by tracing each wire from each bulb.

:yeahthat:

eBay is a good place. I've got this one (eBay item number 270633362973) and haven't had any issues in the 18 months I've had it fitted.

Really good quality also, doesn't interfere with the cars electrics and provides a decent feed to the lighting on the trailer meaning the light shine nice and bright :)

Thanks all for you help, I have ordered the part and will attempt fitting this weekend
