I mentioned elsewhere that the driver's side wiper on my RHD "F" stopped working yesterday. The design of the spindles was significantly changed in the mid 60's as I am sure the frail engineering must have been a regular source of failures.
This is my spare one hauled out of storage and stripped of the circlip.

The spindle is retained in the pivot bush using a tiny circlip that sits in a shallow groove and bears on a thin washer. The hole in the washer has worn and the circlip has stretched and corroded.

The problem for us RHDs is that only a fairly limited number of these right-handed mechanisms will have been made and all the new spares are for LHD cars. I will have to work out a better way to repair this item because it will not last forever.
I think that this design may be more common on RHDs because they may have been using up the production run for quite a while before commissioning the new type.
