My recently bought tech house grey 500S 1.4 with only 17000km on the clock has a quite glaringly colour mismatched front bumper. It doesn't look like it's ever been resprayed. I can't find any sign of overspray and all the fixings look completely undisturbed. Had anyone had the same experience with this colour? It's much more obvious in bright light, the bumper being lighter than the bodywork. The dealer I bought it from is saying that many cars has mismatched bumpers but I've never personally owned one with the problem. I've also noticed the mirror covers are a shade lighter than the bodywork.

My girlfriend has a Mocha Latte 1.2 Pop with perfectly matched bumpers.

I'm considering getting it resprayed but I don't like the idea of disturbing the factory paint finish. It's most obvious where the bumper joins the front wings. The bumper to bonnet is slightly less obvious. Certain angles and conditions make it more or less obvious.

Just wondering if the bumper has been replaced at any point as that this could account for the shade difference?

My partner's 500, also Tech House Grey, is going to have the bumper replaced after a motor bike rode into it last week. Keeping fingers crossed that they get the colour right!

Obviously this would not account for the wing mirror covers also being a different shade

The paintwork is under warranty for 3 years by Fiat, is yours older than this?

I have a similar issue with my metallic electroclash grey, front bumper is too dark and rear too light! It's very light dependent, annoying though, poor QC I suspect.

I don't think it's had a new bumper unless it was when the car was literally brand new. The wear / chipping is similar on the bumper and bonnet. It's 3yrs old in June so I may see what I get out of Fiat. I don't really want to spray it though.

Had all kinds of colour matching issues on a previous silver Alfa 147 after someone ran into the back of it.

Many cars have this issue , it’s the fact that plastic parts are sprayed separately from the main body shell and plastic is at a different temperature so the paint bonds differently. If you look around you will see lots of cars like it, you can’t make it out on very dark colours or very light as much.

It’s a pet hate of mine, stopped me ordering a grey Golf recently and went for White instead. As all the grey ones I looked at had the problem. look at the two grey metallic examples here and see how the bumpers are different

I’ve had some colour match issues but not to that extent.
