Rite, as i pull away when the revs get to around 2 an half in the first 3 gears i get this whiring noise an its really bluddu annoyin, any ideas people?????

Is it only in the first three gears? if so, it'd point to a gearbox problem.
If not, could be clutch bearing, cambelt tensioner bearing or alternator.
Try checking the oil level in the 'box.

this also happens to mine i was told by fiat it was to do with thie air intake ? what ltr is urs? 1242???

Im with Fixit, Fiat do make me laugh, air intake making a whirring noise, thats a new one for me.

i left the car still makes the sound among other problems gonna burn the f**kin thing!
i did here there was a recall on puntos from P Reg up
that was from my local dealer TJ Vickers

well, i gotta change the clutch release bearing anyway, as it 2 makes a really awfull grinding noise when released an pushed down 
, ill see what happens an take it from there

I had same two problems mentione din last post.
Just changed the clutch. Now rattkles a bit and I am wondering whether that stupid release bearing that just presses into the release fork has come adrift when I put th ebox back. all works ok but clatters.
also have the same (or similar) whirring noise. Mine is the alternator bearings I think. I just ignore it. Of course if it does turn out to be something more serious, ignoring it coul be costly.
