check your vac unit on the dizzy if thats split you wont be able to set the mixture up as it will be pulling too much air in and will run weak. i have had this alot on fire engined fiats when they come in for service. if you need a vac unit Dave let me know and ill bring you one to mitcar (if i can find one):p

i needed it to go out as punto fecking broke so cleaned old carb put that on an popped out, it still running crap, and had pre igintion very bad when i got back ( why it called that when it happens after ) i look inside dizzy cap and contacts are very worn so think i best go get new one and rotor arm.

Dave.
Your distributor has a black plastic cap.

Does it also have a black plastic unit screwed to the side of the distributor with a cable and plug from the wiring loom connected to it?
Rgds.

Then the points are under the alloy plate that you can see when the cap is removed.
Rgds.
