Good morning
I have a 2009 Fiat ducato motorhome & I would like to change the wheels but I need to find out if it a light weight chassis or maxi ? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Model
Ducato
Year
2009
Mileage
25000
The original X250 Euro 4 Ducatos of your vintage were only supplied with either 15" 5x118 wheels on the light chassis or 16" 5x130 wheels on the heavy. Which ones do you have, they are not interchangeable? [just for info in 2014 with the move to euro 5 the option of 16" wheels with 5x118 spacing on the light chassis was introduced].

You may be able to tell from the chassis plate/Vin plate as they give weights and towing capacities etc. on that. Either under the bonnet maybe on the slam panel or on the bulkhead , if not on a door pillar usually.
Another guide is the lighter models used to have 15 inch wheels though that may be just older models, if the tyres are the original spec. they will have a load rating on them. There is also numbers that identify the wheel written /stamped on the rims.
Do you have any guide in you owners handbook?

It's a 16 years old vehicle. If you don't own it from new lots might have happend during this period.

FIAT / SEVEL and the converters messed a lot with the wheels, models etc. Rear ALKO axis will won't fit FIAT original specs. This wasn't standard, depends on the vehicle type and converters' options.

Try checking with the VIN number on the forum ePER (link on the bottom of the forum banner, search window top left) in the van options (should be listed when you push the blue 'All' button). It shall tell you the chassis type it left the SEVEL factory with :D

In this ePER section:

HOME
FIAT COMMERCIAL
NUOVO DUCATO
2J NUOVO DUCATO 2006 (2006-2014)
443 SUSPENSION AND WHEELS
44316 WHEELS
44316/00 WHEELS

you shall also find the rims it left the factory on.

Then, before you purchase anything, compare it with what you have on the vehicle, as that might have been changed during those 16 years.

Thank you I’m pretty sure ours is the heavy maxi chassis 👍
