I've a strange "ticking" noise when accelerating coming somewhere in the right front of the car. When stepping the gas there a tick, and when taking the foot of the gas pedal, there is also tick. In lower RPM I cannot hear it.

I went to the dealer and after a few days of testing, they told me it was an known issue by these kind of engines (115hp diesel enige). Alfa should have the same problems.

I wonder if someone else also experienced the "ticking" sound?! Did they solve it for you?

Another is that I have is that the blue&me microphone has some issues. When I call someone, that sound from the one I'm calling is pretty bad (like i'm driving with open windows). The changed the panel in the roof, but it still is their. For the Punto they had the solution to change the external volume back to 13. But this option seems not the be there in a Bravo.

If some knows more about these problems, please tell :)

My 150multijet has an interesting sort of ticking while accelerating... Don't think it's an issue, just the noise the engine makes.

I found that fitting 2 large pieces of foam approx 20mm thick above the passengers footwell and filling in all the gaps with small foam pieces made a significant reduction in engine noise, these noises were very prominent when accellerating. I feel that this baulkhead areas insulation has suffered due to the RHD for UK market.

You give it a try with a couple of bits of good foam, instantly much quieter result. (y)

I'll try that thanks. If I can get a decent shape I'll start cutting some out and making them available if it makes a big difference.

Just cut out a couple of rectangles (approx 20 x 30cm) and these will be able to cover most of the area, tuck edges into the gaps, cut off any excess and use the pieces of off cuts for the small holes, my kids kicked off piece of foam and i could tell straight away without even looking, the noise is just the normal diesel engine "knock" i`m sure, really pleased with the car but lacks a bit of thought regarding insulation in this area.

Would it be worth investing in the likes of Dynamat do you think? Although I don't find mine all that noisy.

Its not that noisey - I only noticed it after a couple of thousand miles mostly on quiet motorway tarmac when music switched off etc, fitting foam just to see what happened made a noticible difference and no longer annoys me, just passed 7k miles all else seems well, (Fingers Crossed).

What exactly is Dynamat ?-

Dynamat = sound deadening material, readily available...quite pricey though.

My Alfa JTD (8v 115bhp) sometimes makes a quiet ticking noise, like a clock, at idle, from the passenger side dash area. I've looked into this and I believe it could be related to the charcoal filter. Only occurs very infrequently and only at idle, not when travelling , that or it's drowned out by general noise. Maybe a similar problem?

Hmm, interesting.... The "knock" from Fiat is only when traveling. When accelerating (immediatley after pressing the gas pedal). When releasing the pedal the knock is there again.

Anyone have some more information about the crackling sound in B&M for the receiving side? Thanks!
