hi there, iv had a look around the forums... and see alot of issues with stilo batteries but none seem to match my issue...

52plate fiat stilo 1.6 3 door...

the battery is a 60ah, but the car does have a 750w sub/amp made by Vibe.... wich is wired in correctly.

when the sub was bought/fitted i was assured that the car would easily be able to power this and continue to hold full charge whith the alternator...

the battery was disconnected and fully charged less than a week ago, and yesterday (after running out of fuel) ran flat after just 30 minutes at the side of the road with nothing on but the hazards...

this leads me to believe this is an alternator issue?

can anybody help with this?

thanks

James

sounds like an old battery to me.

but its easy to test if you have a multimeter:
- measure the voltage at the battery terminals with car off and post it up
- start the car with all accessories (radio, wipers lights) OFF measure voltage and post it up
- with car running turn on radio, heated rear screen and headlights, measure voltage and post it up.
- Turn the engine off, but have ignition on so all accessories are still running, measure voltage and post it up

these four measurements will enable us to accurately diagnose your problem. although my gut instinct is that your battery has well passed it and isn't holding charge anymore. these measurements will tell us if your alternator is good, thus meaning your battery is gooone.

post up and well tell you whats what! :)

hi there, should have added that the battery was brand new less than 3 months ago...

will get voltmeter out and let u know what readings are, thanks

750 watts ??? That's pretty much. Is this real watts, or peak performance in 1 ohm load?

Anyway, something is propably draining the system. Get a voltmeter or a little bulb between +pole and chassis. Get any reading over 0 volts or a glowing bulb?
