Technical Sticky throttle

Fiat 500 08 plate. When changing gear, mainly 1-2, occasionally 3-4, engine continues revving as if i've not taken my foot off the throttle (but i have). Cable does not appear to be sticking. Otherwise the car drives ok. Any ideas?

Check the pedal actually returns properly, there's no cable it's fly-by-wire so could also be a sticky butterfly/actuator?

Yep time to give the throttle body a good clean out! check all the breather hoses at the same time! wd 40 the pedal mechanisim! while your at it!

Did you solve the issue and how? Have the same in a 2018 facelift
