Hi
We have just had a short holiday in Spain and at our apartment we had to park under some pine trees.
The result is that the whole of the car is covered with some sort of sticky stuff.
Washing the car has no effect.
Any ideas on how to remove it?
Thanks

It's tree sap. Pine trees are the worst culprits. I've used white spirit to get it off before, but you may need to wax your car again afterwards as it (i.e. the white spirit) tends to take car wax off as well.

Weirdly enough I would agree with the above, but my wife's car used to get caked in it a our old house. Tried white spirit, expensive Autoglym tree sap remover, didn't touch it! In the end used a high concentration of dirt cheap Tesco car shampoo and it came off easily! Worth a try!

WD40 would be the first thing I'd reach for for 'odd' jobs like this, it's well-proven at removing all sorts of things from . . . well . . . all sorts of things (y)

Cheap baby wipes.

I initially only wanted to get it off the glass. Glass cleaner wasn't touching it, so grabbed the only other wet thing I could find. Tried it on the bodywork too....worked a treat! Then a quick wash to remove the babywipe residue
